Green Lava Studios and Reverb Triple XP announced today that the acclaimed action-platformer Fenix Rage has been honored with the GameMaker Game Of the Year 2014 award. From a field of twelve acclaimed indie games utilizing the GameMaker engine, Fenix Rage received over 50% of all votes making it the clear winner.
To commemorate this achievement, Fenix Rage is now available for a limited time at $5.99 (60% off SRP) on Steam.
Stuart Poole, head of production at YoYo Games, said:
“On behalf of YoYo Games, we want to congratulate the Green Lava Studios’ team on winning the GameMaker Game Of The Year. The GameMaker engine has enabled talented game developers realize their dreams and it’s wonderful to see Eduardo and his Costa Rican team achieve the success that they deserve.”
Eduardo Ramirez, lead programmer and founder of Green Lava Studios, added:
“GameMaker is an amazing engine that gives us the power and speed – especially speed – to make Fenix Rage the fast and furious game experience we wanted. To be compared in a group of great games like Hyper Light Drifter and Nidhogg is amazing – to have gamers vote for us to win is just tremendous.”

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
