Yesterday we informed you about a new HD Texture Pack for Max Payne. And today, I’m happy to report that modders are currently working on AI-enhanced HD texture packs for two classic games; Final Fantasy 7 and Hexen.
Let’s start with the Final Fantasy 7 HD Texture Pack. This pack will be created by CaptRobau, will be using Gigapixel and after some initial tests CaptRobau was able to upscale FF7’s low-res pre-rendered field backgrounds by 400%.
On the other hand, the Hexen HD Texture Pack is created by grandgreed and will be Neural Upscaling techniques, similar to those that were used for the HD Texture Pack for Doom. According to the modder, the main purpose of this pack will be the “preservation of details and lack of third-party modifications, only close view of what was conceived by designers since the beginning.”
There isn’t currently any ETA on when these HD Texture Packs will be released but we’ll be sure to keep you posted. Until then you can find below some comparison screenshots between the vanilla and the modded versions of Final Fantasy 7 and Hexen.
Here are some additional screenshots from the modded versions of these two games.

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
