Back in December 2017, Epic Games announced that its free to play battle royale game, Fortnite Battle Royale, has surpassedĀ 30 million players and 1.3 million concurrent players. And in just a month, Epic’s title was able to catch the attention of 10 million additional gamers.
As Epic’s lead systems designer Eric Williamson confirmed to Eurogamer, Fortnite Battle Royale has surpassed 40 million total players and 2 million concurrent players.
“To put it in context, some of the folk around the office are saying hey, we could be the biggest Battle Royale game in the western world, which is crazy.
Some people are saying we could be the biggest and best-played game [full stop] in the western world.”
Epic Games has also unveiled the new map that will be coming to Fortnite Battle Royale this week.

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
