Let us get one thing straight. We hate all games that are locked at 30fps. Okay, there is a reason to lock the framerate to consoles for performance purposes but there is no reason at all to cap it on the PC. At the same time, we are amazed with some modders that went the extra mile to remove it from various games like Transformers: War for Cybertron or Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. And here comes now Ubisoft’s From Dust that is added to this 30fps capped games list.
Funny thing is that the PC version got delayed and the company didn’t fix anything at all. In addition, there isn’t any AA support or any VSync option in-game. Hell, there aren’t any proper options and PC gamers can only change the game’s resolution. Call us unimpressed but this is one of the worst console ports of this generation and yeah, the game requires an online connection as it’s impossible to launch it without being online.
On the other hand, we should point out that PC gamers can force VSync via their Nvidia or ATI control panel and that the FXAA workaround we posted earlier this month is working fine with From Dust.
Now if only someone could mod the game to remove the 30fps cap…

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
