As we wrote in our PC Performance Analysis, Borderlands 3 currently suffers from some optimization issues. And today, Gearbox announced that it is currently working on a performance patch for it. According to the team, this patch will also feature some Quality of Life improvements.
Thank you all for your continued enthusiasm and support. We want Borderlands 3 to be the best game possible and are actively monitoring your feedback. We are working on performance and quality of life improvements and will have more to share soon at https://t.co/eUsZlAuGWf. pic.twitter.com/EXCSK6OlUg

Unfortunately, Gearbox did not reveal any additional details about this upcoming performance patch.
As we’ve already stated, the game’s DX12 mode is currently busted as it takes ages to load the game. Not only that, but its DX11 brings noticeable CPU/memory limitations to older PC systems. Furthermore, the PC version suffers from stuttering issues on CPUs with less than 10 CPU threads.
We seriously hope that Gearbox will at least fix some of these PC issues. We also hope that these improvements will come out as soon as possible. The team obviously needs some time in order to test these fixes/ tweaks. Therefore, we hope to get this performance patch in the next couple of weeks. Or at least sometime this month.
Borderlands 3 had already a successful launch – commercially – on the PC. Therefore, let’s hope that Gearbox will treat PC gamers as first-class citizens.
We’ll be sure to test both DX11 and DX12 once Borderlands 3’s performance patch comes out, so stay tuned for more!
