Square Enix has just announced that GEX: DEEP COVER GECKO is now available for both the PlayStation 3 and the PSP via the PlayStation Network and is priced at £7.99 / €9.99. GEX: DEEP COVER GECKO is basically a re-release of the old GEX game and marks the debut of our beloved lizard to current generation consoles, as well as its first digital-only release.
As an international secret agent for hire, GEX’s next mission is to find the beautiful Agent Xtra who has been kidnapped by GEX’s arch nemesis, Rez. GEX: DEEP COVER GECKO is full of tongue-in-cheek references to pop culture, television and movies. It’s Tail Time!
Developed by Crystal Dynamics, GEX first found fame on the small screen in the 1990s appearing in a trilogy of adventures on the original PlayStation system. Being voiced by acclaimed actors including Leslie Phillips (GEX 3D: ENTER THE GECKO) and Red Dwarf’s Danny John-Jules (GEX: DEEP COVER GECKO), GEX quickly earned the reputation of a wise-cracking, eccentric gecko, addicted to television and foiling the plans of Rez – overlord of the Media Dimension.

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
