Normally we wouldn’t post about a new digital distribution service but since we’ve seen in the past some great deals and sales from Green Man Gaming and since it’s coming to Greece, we felt the need to inform you about it. So in case you were unaware of, Green Man Gaming is a digital distribution service for PC games and is currently preparing for considerable European expansion, revealing plans to launch local stores for gamers in the Czech Republic, Germany, Greece and Turkey.
From next month, GMG will partner with regional retail, distribution and media experts to launch fully localised stores with exclusive offers, local payment options and customer support. The new stores will go live in areas with a high concentration of PC gamers, as gamers continue to migrate in their droves from boxed product.
In the Czech Republic, Green Man Gaming – in partnership with Next Level Games launches in September, alongside Green Man Gaming – in partnership with CD Media for Greece and Green Man Gaming – in partnership with Vivida for Turkey. The IGN Germany PC Store – powered by Green Gaming, will go live later this year, following a deal with MediaXP, the German licensee of the world’s largest gaming and entertainment site. GMG are close to finalising similar partnerships in other territories.
GMG first launched in the UK in 2010 and is the world’s only online retailer that gives consumers the chance to trade-in their digitally downloaded PC games to get money-off new purchases. A strong supporter of the games industry and publishers, GMG remains the sole retailer to pay a royalty on pre-owned sales. GMG offers games from major publishers including SEGA, Ubisoft, Square Enix, 2K and Rockstar available at competitive prices, and the chance to save further money and swapping in their existing PC downloads.
Paul Sulyok, Managing Director, Green Man Gaming, said:
“ By launching four new stores with expert partners across Europe we are significantly increasing our audience, appealing to gamers who want to buy and trade their PC games in their native language, with local payment options and support.
We’re focused on expanding Green Man Gaming’s reach, strengthening relationships with our roster of publishers, seeking to work with those who don’t currently benefit from our innovative distribution model.”

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
