Okay, when a PS2 game gets released for the current iOS and Android devices, you finally realize how far the handheld hardware has come. Rockstar announced that their acclaimed third person sandbox game, Grand Theft Auto 3, will be released on both iOS and Android this Fall. To be more precise though, the game will be made available for specific, more powerful smartphone and tablet devices, including iPad 2, iPhone 4S, the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Sam Houser, founder of Rockstar Games said:
“Grand Theft Auto III showed us the potential of open world games. It helped set the vision for the company, and we have been expanding on those possibilities with every game ever since.”
Great news to say the least, as GTA3 was the first 3D game in the GTA series and is still consider as one of its best parts.

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
