Our reader ‘Dirty Dan’ has informed us about a tweak via which PC gamers can unlock the framerate in both RAGE and Wolfenstein: The New Order. Now before continuing, a number of users with 120Hz monitors reported that this tweak speeds up the game itself, therefore we strongly suggest experimenting with at first in order to find out whether this tweak is messing around with your game’s animations, cut-scenes, and speed.
All you have to do is bring the command console (while in-game) and type “toggle com_synctotime”. Now you’ll have to do this each and every time you launch the game. Or you can simply add “+toggle com_synctotime” as launch options and you won’t have to bother with this command ever again.
Dirty Dan has provided us with a video, showing off this tweak in action. Now despite YT’s videos being locked at 30fps, we can notice a slight speed difference between the vanilla and the tweaked version, so as we’ve already said: experiment with it and if it speeds up your game remove it.
Enjoy!
[UPDATE]
Dirty Dan has informed us about a possible fix for the speed up issue that may occur after unlocking the framerate in both RAGE and Wolfenstein: The New Order. If you experience such side effects, open the command console and type ‘r_syncatendframe’.
