SuperData has shared its monthly report, stating that Horizon Zero Dawn has sold 716K units on the PC in its first month. According to the company, the game’s PC launch was nearly as large as The Witcher III: Wild Hunt and significantly larger than Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
Furthermore, Horizon Zero Dawn sold more units at release than the PC edition of Death Stranding. Death Stranding became available in July 2020 and sold 477K units according to Superdata.
Superdata has also reported that Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout had the highest-earning launch of any PC title ($185M) since Overwatch in May 2016. According to the company, 8.2 million players paid for the PC version.
Additionally, Fortnite revenue grew 76% month-over-month on PC and console, more than offsetting its falling mobile revenue.
Lastly, premium sports games earned $321M in August as the fall slate of sports titles began rolling out.
“Madden NFL 21 sold 570K digital units during August after its release at the very end of the month. August NBA 2K20 earnings were up 165% over what NBA 2K19 generated in August 2019. The game likely benefited from the unprecedented circumstance of the NBA season continuing during the summer. PGA Tour 2K21, a new 2K sports franchise, also debuted in August. The title, which is a rebranded continuation of The Golf Club series, sold 580K digital units during its release month.”

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
