Modder ‘Kaldaien’ has released a brand new version of his Special K mod that adds partial support to Horizon Zero Dawn. According to the modder, and by using Special K, you will get better frame pacing and less stutters in this latest open-world game.
To be honest, I never really had any major frame pacing or stuttering issues with Horizon Zero Dawn. So yeah, this mod does nothing on my end. However, it may indeed address some of the stuttering issues that other players have reported, so go ahead and give it a go.
As Kaldaien noted, gamers will have to make the following manual INI edits as D3D12 support is incomplete with the latest version of Special K.
[API.Hook]
LastKnown=64
d3d11=false
d3d12=true
Furthermore, and by using Waitable Swapchains and SK’s framerate limiter, players will get a smooth experience when using borderless window mode.
You can download Special K (and find some instructions in order to use its framerate limiter) here. You can also read our PC Performance Analysis article here.
Have fun!
