Even though the entire Yakuza series is available on PC, its spin-offs, Judgment and Lost Judgment, have not been announced for it. And, from the looks of it, these two games will not be coming at all on our platform.
Back in February, we assumed there was an exclusivity deal with Stadia. However, that doesn’t appear to be the case. According to a report from Nikkan Taishu, Takuya Kimura’s talent agency has forbidden SEGA from releasing these two games on PC.
Taishu states that Sega wanted to publish both Judgment and Lost Judgment on PC/Steam to further extend the series’ audience. However, Takuya Kimura’s talent agency refrained them from doing so due to their very strict portraiture rights policy.
“Johhny’s has a very strict policy over the images of its celebrities, and only some of their images are online. Johhny’s does not want their talent portraits at a PC platform that is not a game console platform and connects directly to the Internet.”
Taishu also claims that Sega will end the Judgment series with the second entry.
Now while this may sound ridiculous, it’s actually true. Johnny’s had previously censored Famitsu from displaying Judgment’s main protagonist at the game’s launch.
So there you have it, everyone. No Judgment and Lost Judgment for us!
