A few days ago, some rumours surfaced regarding the resurrection of the Silent Hill franchise. According to those rumours, Sony would purchase the IP from Konami. Furthermore, Kojima Productions was planning to work on a brand new Silent Hill game. However, Konami has debunked those rumours.
As a North American PR representative for Konami told RelyOnHorror, the team can confirm that these rumours are not true.
“We’re aware of all the rumors and reports but can confirm that they are not true. I know it’s not the answer your fans may want to hear.”
So there you have it everyone. No, Sony has not purchased the Silent Hill IP and no, the next Silent Hill game will not be exclusive to PS5. Also, Kojima Productions is not working on a Silent Hill game. Or at least that’s what Konami publicly claims at this point.
Lastly, Konami’s representative added:
“It’s not to say we are completely closing the door on the franchise, just not in the way it is being reported.”
Let’s just hope that the next Silent Hill game will not be a mobile game or a pachinko.
