The RPCS3 team has released a brand new version of its incredible Playstation 3 emulator that packs major performance improvements to a number of games.
Going into more details, Nekotekina optimized SPU performance which reduced SPU bottlenecks across the board allowing for higher RSX (PS3 GPU) utilization. Metal Gear Solid 4 saw the largest improvement from this change with most users seeing a 25-50% performance uplift.
Thanks to these improvements, Red Dead Redemption now runs faster by 5-20%. However, there are still some performance issues in towns, so the game is not yet marked as “playable”.
Additionally, kd-11 is already working on another RSX improvement, this time to Zcull performance. Early testing has revealed yet another huge gain in Metal Gear Solid 4, and other games as well.
Lastly, kd-11 also resolved an NVIDIA specific physics issue that affected Uncharted 1 & 2.
As always, you can download the latest version of RPCS3 from its official website.
Have fun!
