Superdata has released some new stats, reporting that while the worldwide digital video games market grew 9% year-over-year in May, PC sales declined by 30%. This decline was mainly due to Overwatch’s release in May 2016 which significantly boosted PC sales back then.
According to Superdata’s data, League of Legends was the top earning PC game in May 2017. Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds (which hit 4 million sold copies) has sold 791,000 units in May 2017, and Overwatch digital revenues are up from April but down from May 2016, when it launched.
It’s also worth noting that Free-to-play and pay-to-play games grew 17% and 12% respectively in May 2017.

John is the founder and Editor in Chief at DSOGaming. He is a PC gaming fan and highly supports the modding and indie communities. Before creating DSOGaming, John worked on numerous gaming websites. While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. John has also written a higher degree thesis on the “The Evolution of PC graphics cards.”
