2K Games has announced that Mafia 3 is its fastest-selling game to date. The publisher has shipped 4.5 million copies of Mafia 3 in its first week, surpassing even titles like Bioshock and Borderlands.
Do note that these are shipped copies to shops and not sold copies to consumers. Still, this is a really impressive number for such a game.
Unfortunately, though, the game still suffers from optimization issues on the PC.
As we’ve already wrote in our PC Performance Analysis article, Mafia 3 comes with some ridiculously high GPU requirements. However, the visuals on display do not really justify these high GPU requirements.
The game initially released with a 30fps lock on the PC, however Hangar 13 was quick to react and released – in a matter of days – a patch that resolved that issue.
Hangar 13 claimed that it is still working on improving the game’s performance, though we haven’t heard anything from the team since October 14th!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
