Earlier today, it was hinted that the PC version of Mafia 3 was locked at 30fps. While most assumed that this lock only affected the review code that was sent to a number of publications, we can now confirm that the retail/Steam version of Mafia 3 is indeed locked at 30fps.
This is really disappointing for a triple-A title. Perhaps that was the reason that 2K Games did not send any review codes prior to the game’s launch? One can only guess.
For what is worth, the game features a FOV slider, though we are pretty sure that most PC gamers will be disappointed with this 30fps lock.
2K Games and Hangar 13 have not provided any explanation as to why the PC version is locked at 30fps.

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
