Seriously now, I can’t be the only one who adores those 16bit Snes action RPG’s. Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, Secret of Mana, Breath of Fire, Secret of Evermore… just let me make a confession; I love them. Yeah, I’m a PC gamer but my roots are from console and damn do I miss those JRPGs. So, naturally, I felt the need to inform you about Mage Gauntlet, a brand new 16bit RPG from Rocketcat Games that is inspired by SNES-era action RPG’s.
Mage Gauntlet is a return to the genre before the word “quest” meant “fetch quest”, where everyone can enjoy responsive, satisfying combat, a humorous storyline about hitting jerks with a sword, and a generally anti-grinding design philosophy.
Mage Gauntlet is coming soon to iOS and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. John has also written a higher degree thesis on the “The Evolution of PC graphics cards.”
