Edgar Cebolledo and Peter Sjostrand have released a beta version for their upcoming fan-made freeware Mega Man title, Mega Man 2.5D. Now I know what most of you will be thinking. Why the hell did they announce a beta and risk their project being shut down by Capcom? After all, we’ve seen this happening in a lot of fan projects lately (Chrono Trigger and Sonic fan remakes to name two). Yes, the team is proud for what it has already achieved but come on – this is like asking Capcom to send a C&D letter.
We hope that the big Japanese developer will see the potential of such a freeware title and won’t do anything stupid. However – and as this seems unlikely at this point – we strongly suggest downloading the beta now, while you still can.
As the team noted, the beta version features one playable co-op stage, Shadow Man’s stage. The team hopes to keep building on the game, adding more stages, modes and other content. The team also hinted at a single player mode being added to the next beta version of Mega Man 2.5D.

Enjoy!
