Kojima Productions’ boss Hideo Kojima announced – at this afternoon’s Metal Gear 25th anniversary event at Tokyo Midtown – that Metal Gear Solid will be coming to the big screen. Avi Arad, the man behind a lot of Marvel hero movies such as Iron Man, Blade, Spider-Man 2002, and The Amazing Spider-Man, will produce this Metal Gear movie and both Sony and Columbia Pictures will back this project up.
Avi Arad said:
“For many years I fought to bring comics to theaters, and video games are the comics of today.”
Arad has also added that they will take their time and tell the story with all the nuances, ideology, cautionary tales needed.
Here is hoping that will be up to the standards that have been set by the video games (and better than the fan-made short films that were released a couple of years ago).

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. John has also written a higher degree thesis on the “The Evolution of PC graphics cards.”
