Deep Silver and Vertigo Games have announced a new Metro VR game, Metro Awakening. Metro Awakening is a story-driven first-person adventure built exclusively for VR. And yes, Deep Silver has confirmed that it will be coming to Meta Quest 2+3 and Steam VR in 2024. This won’t be a PS5 VR exclusive.
Written by Metro creator Dmitry Glukhovsky, Metro Awakening allows you to immerse yourself in the heart-pounding, chilling and tense world of Metro in an entirely new dimension. Or at least that’s what its press release claims.
The game will be set in 2028. You are Serdar, a doctor who has to brave the mind-bending tunnels of Metro to search for his missing wife. This journey will push his mind to the limit – walking a line between life and death, rationality and spirituality, reality and belief. Serdar will experience what he once thought was impossible, awakening the force he is to become.
Players will be able to reload weapons, change their filters, charge their torch, and more in VR. So, hopefully, this game can come close to what Half-Life: Alyx did? And no, in case you are wondering, there are no plans for a non-VR version. However, I’m sure that some modders will find a way to release a Non-VR Mod.
Enjoy the trailer and stay tuned for more!
