Great news for Assassin’s Creed fans as Michael Fassbender, the man behind some major roles in 300, Xmen: First Class and Prometheus, will produce and star in a movie adaptation of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed. As you already know, the game’s storyline follows Desmond who learns that he is a descendant of famous assassins after being kidnapped by the Knights Templar. Although we don’t know more details about it, we can expect to see Fassbender reprising both Desmond and his ancestor. And given how famous he is, we kind of expect to see Ezio as Desmond’s descendant.
UMP CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet said:
“Michael Fassbender was our first choice. Michael is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor.”
According to Baronnet, UMP will limit its risk investment and will save on production costs by turning to its 26 in-house game studios like Hybride Technologies, to handle visual effects work.
No release date has been announced as of yet and we don’t expect to see this film hitting theaters at all.
