Microsoft has announced native support cross-platform play between Xbox One and Windows 10. As Chris Charla, Director of ID@Xbox, announced today, Microsoft is enabling developers to support cross-network play on games that use Xbox Live. Naturally, developers will have to include this option in their games, however it’s good knowing that such a feature is now officially supported.
In case you’re wondering, this basically means that players on Xbox One and Windows 10 – using Xbox Live – will be able to play with players on different online multiplayer networks – including other console and PC networks.
As Chris Charla stated:
“In addition to natively supporting cross-platform play between Xbox One and Windows 10 games that use Xbox Live, we’re enabling developers to support cross-network play as well. This means players on Xbox One and Windows 10 using Xbox Live will be able to play with players on different online multiplayer networks – including other console and PC networks.”
Charla concluded that Xbox One owners will be able to choose to play only with other Xbox Live players. It remains to be seen whether such an option will be also added for the PC (in a similar way to the one found in Street Fighter V).
Last but not least, Rocket League will be the first game with cross-network play support between Xbox One and PC players.

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
