Strelokkkkk is currently working on a graphics overhaul mod for the first STALKER game, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl. STALKER SoC Remaster will introduce a DirectX 11 renderer, soft shadows, as well as Ray Tracing effects.
The modder will be using Reshade Ray Tracing in order to enhance the game’s Ambient Occlusion and Global Illumination effects. In other words, this is a post-process effect and not native Ray Tracing support. Furthermore, it isn’t clear yet whether the modder will be able to include Pascal “Marty McFly” Gilcher’s Reshade to his mod. After all, Gilcher’s Reshade is behind a Patreon wall right now.
Alongside the aforementioned effects, the modder plans to include high quality textures. Some of them will be 2K, some of them will be 4K, and some of them may even go as high as 8K. The modder will also add enhanced Godrays, grass shadows, high quality tessellated models, improved steep parallax mapping and more.
In order to showcase these new graphical features, Strelokkkkk released a tech trailer for STALKER SoC Remaster.
Lastly, there is currently no ETA on when this mod will come out.
Enjoy the trailer and stay tuned for more!
