It appears that a new Assassin’s Creed game will release before the next main AC game, Assassin’s Creed Infinity. Codenamed “Rift”, this AC game will rely heavily on stealth mechanics, won’t be an open-world, and will target a late 2022/2023 release date.
According to Bloomberg, players will assume the role of Basim in this new AC game. Originally planned as an expansion for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Ubisoft appears to have turned it into a standalone game.
Ubisoft has not commented on this leak/rumor as of yet.
In other news, Jason Schreier claimed that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in a pre-production phase. Ubisoft officially announced Beyond Good & Evil 2 in 2016. Then, in 2017, the team revealed the first in-engine demo from it. And then, during E3 2018, Ubisoft showcased the game behind closed doors.
Back in 2021, Tom Henderson claimed that the game has been in development hell. And, from the looks of it, he was right. The fact that the game is still in a pre-production phase means that we won’t be playing it anytime soon. In fact, I’m a bit surprised that Ubisoft has not canceled it yet.
