Any DSO reader who had a SEGA Mega Drive or Genesis (depending on your territory) might remember the classic Toejam and Earl, released in the early 90’s for SEGA’s most successful outing in the hardware business. The game later had two sequels, though response was mixed to both and the third entry, an Xbox exclusive originally intended for SEGA’s Dreamcast, seemed to arrive to very little fanfare.
Fast forward more than 10 years later and HumaNature Studios appears to be developing a sequel in the franchise. The project was announced via the official Facebook page for Toejam and Earl, accompanied by some pieces of concept art:
Greetings from Funkotron! We haven’t been posting as often lately because we’ve gotten really busy with the new TJ&E game. We will be making some announcements in a probably 3 or 4 weeks, when we have something we can show, and will be able to share lots of information with you.
When fans asked what platforms the game would come to (amongst them PC) developers replied that they’d like to release on all platforms but are unsure as to what order they will do so. It seems due to the size of the studio they may be forced to stagger the release across platforms. None the less PC seems to be in the cards.
Notably GDC is in approximately 3-4 weeks, when the developers say they will be ready to show and discuss more. We’ll update with any pertinent info.
Thanks: SEGABits
