Similarly to Madden NFL, NHL is a franchise that a respectable number of PC gamers have been asking for these past couple years. And it appears that NHL will follow Madden’s example and release on the PC, although it’s not certain whether this will happen this or next year.
In an interview with Shacknews, NHL 19’s creative director William Ho said that EA Sports may bring the NHL series to the PC platform, provided there is a demand for this sports franchise.
When asked about a PC release date for NHL 19, William Ho replied with a “We’ll see” and then added:
“We’re big PC gamers ourselves so we’ll see right? If there is enough demand then certainly we’ll want to cater to that.”
Our guess is that the NHL franchise will re-appear on the PC once it’s been powered by the Frostbite 3 Engine. After all, it’s well known that Frostbite 3 makes it really easy to port games to the PC platform. It’s also no coincidence that Madden NFL is now coming to the PC, after its switch to the Frostbite 3 Engine.
Fans have already launched a petition in order to show the demand of a new NHL game on the PC, and you can sign it up here.

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
