Nintendo has successfully taken down the Nintendo Switch emulator, Ryujinx

A few days ago, we informed you about The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom running extremely well on PC via Ryujinx. And, at that time, I believed that there was nothing Nintendo could do to shut it down. Heh, how naive I was. Because, as the title suggests, Nintendo has figured out a way in order to take down the second-best Nintendo Switch emulator.

In just a matter of months, Nintendo has successfully shut down both Yuzu and Ryujinx. These were the best Nintendo Switch emulators that were available on the Internet.

What’s interesting here is that the Big N did not send the Ryujinx team a DMCA. Instead, it made an offer to its lead developer, and from what we’ve gathered so far, gdkchan agreed to it. Thus, all public downloads and the GitHub repositories have been removed.

So, although the outcome is the same, Nintendo approached Yuzu and Ryujinx in a completely different way. It sucks but from the looks of it, gdkchan could not refuse Nintendo’s offer.

We all know that Nintendo will soon reveal a new Nintendo Switch console. And, since it’s been so desperate to combat Yuzu and Ryujinx, we can assume that the architecture of the Nintendo Switch 2 will be similar to that of the first Switch. In other words, it should be easy for talented coders to create an emulator in record time.

So, there you have it. Right now, there aren’t any major Nintendo Switch emulators. At least not up to the standards that Yuzu and Ryujinx set. I’m certain we’ll see some forks of them. Still, the brains behind them have left the scene. So, I don’t know whether or not we’ll see any major progress from now on.

Stay tuned for more!
