NVIDIA has just released a new version of the RTX Remix Open Beta tools that now supports DLSS 3.5 with Ray Reconstruction and Frame Generation. By using them, modders will be able to get a better image when modding Path Tracing effects into older titles.
NVIDIA says DLSS 3.5 with Ray Reconstruction will be super handy for a modding tool like RTX Remix. Ray Reconstruction will help handle content that normal denoisers struggle with. This means modders won’t need to tweak environments themselves for different scenes and lighting. In short, this will speed up things for upcoming RTX Remix mods.
NVIDIA has also made upgrades to the Toolkit and Runtime. One mod developer, “pixelcluster,” tweaked RTX Remix mods to work better for Steam Deck and Linux AMD users. The modder did this by making things smoother for RADV drivers. Another modder, “mmdanggg2,” fixed how faraway lights look, so they update properly when you move them around. Then there’s “jdswebb,” who made changes to how terrain baking works for games with a left-handed coordinate system. And lastly, “xoxor4d” added an option to track objects better across frames, which means less weird flickering for animated stuff. Below you can find an example of this.
All in all, this is great news for those looking forward to RTX Remix Mods. These past few months we’ve shared a lot of them. In January 2023, we shared several RTX Remix Mods that are in the works. As such, you can take a look at screenshots and videos for Tomb Raider, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Manhunt, and Garfield Kart RTX Remix. Last month, we also shared videos for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas RTX Remix, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Unreal, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 and Midnight Club 2. Earlier this month, we also shared the first screenshots from the RTX Remix Mod for Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines, as well as videos for Fallout: New Vegas RTX and Half-Life RTX.
Speaking of Path Tracing Mods for older titles, you might also want to check out the following ones. Modders have released early demos for their Path Tracing Mods for Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, Max Payne and Call of Duty 4. Do note that the COD4 Mod is a “proof of concept” demo, and it does not look that great. On the other hand, the RTX Remix Mod for Max Payne looks amazing (at least in my opinion). Let’s also not forget the RTX Remix for COD: WoW. And then we have the RTX Remix Mods for the first and the second NFS: Underground games. Oh, and don’t forget to give a go at this RTX Remix for Unreal Tournament 2004. Finally, you can download Path Tracing Mods for Doom 2, Quake, and Serious Sam.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
