Now this is really cool. Anyone remember Capcom’s Ghost n Goblins? Of course you do. After all, it was one of the hardest arcade games ever. Well, time to meet Maldita Castilla; a modern take on that game that is distributed for free and features upgraded 2D graphics. In fact, this little gem may be more fun and enjoyable than Capcom’s platformer, so be sure to download it and give it a go.
According to the company, Maldita Castilla (Cursed/damn Castile) is an action arcade game full of myths from Spain and the rest of Europe. The graphic style is raw, made pixel by pixel with a limited color palette, like in the old days, and displayed through a dirty old monitor effect.
As you may have guessed, this freeware pays homage to classic arcade games from1985-1987 like Ghost’n’Goblins, Tiger Road, Black Tiger, Shinobi, Rygar, Karnov, Trojan and many others.

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
