Earlier this month, we informed you about a new Playstation 4 emulator, called RPCSX. Created by Nekotekina, kd-11 and DH, the team behind the amazing RPCS3, this PS4 emulator looks promising. And from the looks of it, RPCSX can now boot its first commercial game.
Below you can find a video in which YouTube’s ‘BrutalSam’ showcases RPCSX launching the twin-stick shooter, We Are Doomed. And while this may not look that impressive to the average user, it’s a huge step for its dev team.
As we’ve already claimed, the most advanced Playstation 4 emulator for PC right now appears to be Spine. In January, we shared a video that showcased over 125 PS4 games running on it.
Aside from Spine, Kyty, fpPS4 and GPCS4 are among the best-known PS4 emulators. These emulators are not as good as Spine, though fpPS4 can also run numerous 2D games. Thus, it will be interesting to see how long will it take for RPCSX to reach Spine’s status.
RPCSX is still way behind the aforementioned emulators. Still, this is one of the most promising Playstation 4 emulators. The fact that RPCSX can already boot its first game, 14 days after its official reveal, is really cool.
Now I’d suggest tempering your expectations as RPCSX won’t be able to emulate Ghost of Tsushima, Bloodborne or The Last of Us Part II anytime soon. And, by the time it does, we may already have native PC versions of them. So yeah, while this is cool, it’s not as interesting as RPCS 3. At least in my opinion. After all, there are still some PS3 games that remain exclusive to that console and that will never come out on PC. Ironic right?
Anyway, those interested can download its latest public version from here.
Enjoy the video and stay tuned for more!
