Pokemon fans, get ready for a treat. Felipe Gouvea is currently working on a fan remake of Pokemon Fire Red in Unreal Engine 4, and released a demo for it. Now we all know that Nintendo loves shutting down these projects, right? As such, be sure to download it as soon as possible.
Pokémon FireRed Version is a turn-based role-playing title in which the player controls the main character. The game uses an overhead perspective and was released on Game Boy Advance.
This fan remake moves the camera from the top-down perspective to third-person. Moreover, Felipe Gouvea has replaced the turn-based battles of the original with real-time battles.
Now to be honest this feels more like an alpha version and not like a proper demo. Therefore, you should expect lots of bugs, mediocre animations, and unpolished combat mechanics. Still, it’s a cool concept and we believe that most Pokemon fans will be interested in it (especially since Nintendo does not release any modern Pokemon game with this kind of visuals).
You can download the demo for Pokemon Fire Red 3D from here, here or here.
Have fun!
