Last week, Pokemon developer Game Freak was attacked by hackers. The hackers who got into Game Freak’s servers obtained unreleased PC builds of two Pokemon games. And, from the looks of it, these PC builds have already been cracked and they are playable on PCs.
Now for those who are wondering, each and every studio creates a PC dev build for their games. Devs use these PC builds to test various things. However, the existence of those PC builds does not mean that the games will come out on PC. That’s not how things work. So no. Nintendo was never planning to bring its Pokemon games on PC.
So, with this out of the way, let’s now continue our article. During the cyber attack, hackers got their hands on the PC builds of Pokemon Project Arceus, as well as Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl. And, not only did they leak those PC builds online, but people have already cracked them.
What this means is that you can now play these Pokemon games on PC. And get this. These are native PC versions. Also, similar to the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 leaked PC dev build, it should be possible to play them from start to finish.
Now for obvious reasons, we won’t share any links to the PC builds of these two Pokemon games. So, don’t bother sharing any links in the Comment section. Like always, it should be easy to find them. All you have to do is a simple Google search. Just be careful with what you’ll be downloading though.
Right now, there is no gameplay footage of the PC builds on YouTube. And if they ever pop up, Nintendo will immediately take them down. That’s a bummer really. It would be cool to compare the PC dev build with the final Nintendo Switch version. Alas, this won’t ever happen.
Nintendo has already released these two Pokemon games on Nintendo Switch. And, both of them are already playable on PC via Ryujinx. Well, that is if you can find the emulator as the Big N has already taken it down.
And that is that. It really sucks to what has happened to Game Freak. However, these leaked PC dev builds are, in a way, interesting. This of course will not force Nintendo to ever release its first-party games on PC. Still, it’s kind of cool to see a native PC version of a Nintendo game.
