During an interview with Bloody-Disgusting, Red Barrels’ co-founder Philippe Morin confirmed that the team is working on Outlast 2. Though Philippe did not reveal much – or what engine the team will use – this is undoubtedly exciting news.
“After shipping the XB1 version of Outlast, we took some time to analyze our situation and we quickly realized we had at least another horror game in us.” told Bloody-Disgusting Philippe Morin and continued:
“So, yes, we are working on Outlast 2.”
Outlast 2 will be a survival horror experience that will take place in the same universe as Outlast, though it will have different characters and a different setting.
Morin concluded:
“We might go back to Mount Massive Asylum one day, but for now we have new ideas and themes we’d like to explore and we think we’re cooking up something special.”
No ETA was shared and since Red Rabbels is a small indie studio (12 people), you should expect to see Outlast 2 any time soon.

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
