Earlier today, Rockstar released an update for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto 5. But it looks like R* accidentally revealed some files related to Red Dead Redemption Remastered for PC. On top of that, we now know what the hidden game entry on Steam’s database is.
As we can see, Red Dead Redemption Remastered has been receiving numerous updates on Steam these past four months. Its latest update was today, when GTA5 was also updated with the BattlEye anti-cheat.
In August 2024, the PlayStation page for RDR Remastered leaked the upcoming PC version. So, we know for a fact that RDR Remastered is coming to PC. Thus, the question is “when” and not “if”.
My guess is that Red Dead Redemption Remastered will hit the PC by the end of 2024. Or at least that’s the safest bet. But hey, this is Rockstar we’re talking about. After all, I was expecting a PC announcement at Gamescom 2024. As we all know, though, that never came to fruition. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t see this game on PC until 2025.
What’s really funny is that both RDR Remastered and GTA6 will sell like hotcakes on PC, despite the fact that Rockstar treats PC gamers as second-class citizens. It’s ironic really.
As I mentioned before, PC gamers can already play Red Dead Redemption Remastered using Nintendo Switch emulators. However, that version doesn’t look as good as the PS4 version, so it’s not the best way to play the game. And while shadPS4 can already run it, there are a lot of visual issues.
Before closing, you should not expect any PC-only features. I’d like to be proven wrong here. Rockstar has been adding PC-only features to pretty much all of its PC releases. But, right now, my expectations are as low as they can get.
Stay tuned for more!
Rockstar accidentally included the metadata for #RDR1 PC with today’s launcher update too.
