Quantum Break is a game that pleasantly surprised me with its visuals. Sure thing, the game requires a really powerful PC system in order to be enjoyed, however it still looks great even today. Naturally, a lot of PC gamers have been wondering whether Control would be as demanding as Remedy’s previous title. And today, Remedy confirmed that Control will run better than Quantum Break.
As Remedy’s Head of Communications, Thomas Puha, wrote on Resetera, the engine powering Control has been greatly optimized. When questioned about the game’s performance, Thomas said:
“That was three years ago. Lot of optimization has happened since. You’ll know soon enough.”
What this ultimately means is that Control will run better than Quantum Break. I also expect the game to look better than it, and from what we’ve seen so far it will have a better destruction system.
As we’ve showcased, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX2080Ti had trouble running Quantum Break with 30fps in 4K and on Ultra settings. Even in our custom 3325×1871 resolution, the game was only running with 40-46fps. As such, it will be interesting to see whether Control can run with 60fps in 4K/Ultra (obviously without the Ray Tracing effects).

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
