Sad Cat Studios and THQ Nordic have announced that REPLACED and Alone in the Dark have been delayed until 2024. REPLACED is a 2.5D sci-fi retro-futuristic action platformer, whereas Alone in the Dark is a third-person psychological horror game.
THQ Nordic noted that two highly anticipated games will come out in October 2023. These games are Alan Wake 2 and Spider-Man 2. Thus, the publisher has decided to delay the game.
As THQ Nordic stated in its press release.
“Our intention is to avoid competing with the wake of Alan’s epic release and to evade the dazzling skyline of cities adorned by the graceful swings of Spider-Man. We aim to truly remain as Alone in the Dark as possible. To honor this, the spine-chilling horror game has been rescheduled to unveil its horrors on January 16th, 2024. This extension will serve a dual purpose: not only will it permit us to meticulously perfect the gaming experience, but it will also grant us the opportunity to fully immerse ourselves in the remarkable releases of October.”
On the other hand, Sad Cat Studios stated that it needs more time in order to further polish the game. REPLACED promises to combine cinematic platforming, pixel art and free-flow action combat set in an alternative 1980’s. The game will have a lot of hand-painted animations, meaning that its developers need a bit more time in order to achieve their goal.
