Konami has prepared a big announcement for tomorrow, however it appears that IGN may have spoiled the surprise. According to some video interviews with series creator Hideo Kojima on website IGN’s server, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be released on September 1st, and will be the final Metal Gear Solid game.
As Kojima told IGN:
“I always say this will be my last Metal Gear, but the games in the series that I’ve personally produced – Metal on MSX, Metal Gear 2, Metal Gear Solid 1, 2, 3, 4 and Peace Walker – and now Metal Gear Solid 5 constitute a single Metal Gear saga With Metal Gear Solid 5 I’m finally closing the loop on that saga. In that sense, this will be the final Metal Gear Solid. To me, this is the last Metal Gear.”
For what is worth, the videos were pulled but NeoGAF’s member ‘Nibel‘ (who discovered the videos in the first place) managed to capture an image from one of them that shows its release date.
Stay tuned as in a couple of hours we’ll have the official statement from Konami.
Oh, and here is hoping that the PC version won’t be delayed!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
