Capcom has released a new video for Resident Evil 7, focusing on the game’s development. The development of Resident Evil 7 started in 2017 and even though Resident Evil 6 was a really successful action title, for this new Resident Evil title the team felt the need to return to the survival horror genre.
What’s really interesting here is that the game’s producer, Masachika Kawata, was involved in planning an earlier version of Resident Evil 7 back in 2013. That cancelled version was more action-oriented and more similar to Resident Evil 6, however the team soon realized that this project wasn’t coming together.
On the other hand, Koshi Nakanishi revealed Resident Evil 7 was inspired by the Evil Dead movie. Evil Dead takes place in a cabin and involves very few characters. Inspired by that concept, Capcom decided to make a horror Resident Evil game as ‘compact but deep‘ as Evil Dead.
Capcom’s employees shared more interesting details about the development of Resident Evil 7 in the video, so be sure to watch it!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
