Rumor alert, everyone. It appears that Rockstar Games may finally release the first Red Dead Redemption game on the PC platform. According to dataminer Tez2, Rockstar has updated its launcher site file with the following information.

In August 2023, Rockstar announced a “remaster” of RDR for PS4 and Nintendo Switch. So, if I had to guess, I’d say that the game will come out on PC this Summer, one year after its console release.
Now the reason I quoted the word remaster was because this felt more like a re-release than a proper remaster. In short, don’t expect any major visual enhancements or improvements.
Now I know that a lot of PC gamers have been asking for a native PC version of Red Dead Redemption. With a native PC port, modders will be able to overhaul it. So, in a way, this is good news.
However, the fact that Rockstar treats PC gamers as second-class citizens does not sit well with me. Let’s also not forget that GTA6 will be skipping the PC at launch. Yes yes, we all know that GTA 6 will, eventually, hit the PC after its console release. Still, as I said, I’m not OK with the way Rockstar and Take-Two have been treating PC gamers.
Ironically, PC gamers have been experiencing RDR on PC via emulation all this time. In July 2023, we shared a video showing a modern-day PC running RDR the Xbox 360 emulator, Xenia, with up to 300fps. Not only that but the Nintendo Switch emulators can run Red Dead Redemption smoothly.
Another interesting thing here is that if RDR sells well on PC, it may reinforce Rockstar’s and Take-Two’s PC strategy. Put yourselves into Take-Two’s position. Why should you release your next Rockstar game on both consoles and PC and cannibalize your sales? After all, you can release your game on PC one year after its console release. And it will still sell like crazy.
My guess is that Take-Two and Rockstar will announce the game for PC this or next month. And, as always, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
Stay tuned for more!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
