Space combat/trader fans, get ready for a new game that is coming towards our systems. Rogue System is being developed by DCI and is said to be the space-combat/trader games of old meet the hardcore combat flight-sims of today in a “moddable sandbox.” The game’s goal is to combine the depth and fidelity of a complex flight simulator with the classic gameplay of the space combat genre to put the player fully in command of their ship.
There is a Kickstarter campaign for this title that aims to raise $300K in 31 days. Naturally, this game will be appreciated by the hardcore Elite/EVE Online fanbase, so it will be interesting to see whether Rogue System will manage to hit its goal or not.
According to its description, Rogue System’s systems are modeled individually and are dependent on each other for proper operation. This means that if one system is damaged it adversely effects other systems that depend on it.
The game will be fully “moddable”and almost every aspect of it can be changed to create a totally new experience.
Finally, Rogue System is designed to enjoy a long life, with a full range of planned “Extension Modules” (expansions) to add open-ended gameplay, First-Person Shooter-style combat, “capital ship” command, and persistent Multiplayer.
It definitely sounds interesting, and you can view its Kickstarter trailer below!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
