Nothing this is impressive. Eurogamer reported (spotted by our reader ‘Gianluca Manocchio’) that a Russian modder has successfully ported XBLA’s title, The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile, to the PC. Barabus, the Russian modder who ported the game, claimed that he did what needed to be done in the name of Justice. Okay, that’s bullcrap and really awful way to justify hacking a game, despite the fact that what this modder accomplished was stunning.
As Barabus commented:
“We do not steal the game for the Xbox 360, we release it for the PC port. Given that developers ignore the PC platform, about any loss of profit for them is not out of the question. After all, if they wanted to earn money, then the game would be issued on all available platforms. If the game came out on PC officially, then this thread would not exist.”
Ska Studios James Silva responded and said:
“I’m flattered that there’s this much interest in Vampire Smile on PC. I’m not mad about the crack itself, in fact, I’m actually pretty impressed. But I’m bewildered by the cracker’s attempt to justify the morality of it. He assumes a lot about why Vampire Smile’s not on PC yet, and he could have cleared up a lot of those assumptions by just emailing me. I get that piracy is a service problem, but that’s a consequence, not a justification.”
We should note that the game was released in 2011 on XBLA. And it’s pretty obvious that the game would be never coming to our platform. That, or Ska Studios had an exclusivity deal with Microsoft.
From our part, we must say that what Barabus did was illegal. ‘Justice’ served, some may say, but this is strictly illegal. Yes, even if some modders find a way to make Halo: Spartan Assault playable on Windows 7, it will be via illegal means too. We criticize MS for pulling another ‘OS exclusive game’ on us, however that does not mean that what these guys may do is ‘justified’.
Ska “art unicorn” Michelle Juett concluded:
“James is always the good cop. I’m kind of livid myself, I just see him as the overly-entitled gamer saying ‘I deserve this because I want it!’ I was saying earlier on Twitter ‘Halo: Spartan Assault only on Windows 8 devices! That Russian guy should port it FOR GREAT JUSTICE!’ Like James though, he’s going to do what he’s going to do and it’s kind of impressive but trying to justify it morally really irks me.”

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
