With Alan Wake coming to the PC, it was only natural to wonder whether or not its sequel, American Nightmare, would find its way to our beloved platform. Since some of you asked us about it, we contacted Remedy to find out. Unfortunately though, the news are not so good for our PC fans. According to Sandbox Strategies’ Aaron Palacios, there are currently no plans for a PC version of Alan Wake: American Nightmare.
As Aaron told us:
“We are working with Remedy on Alan Wake’s American Nightmare. In regards to a PC version, American Nightmare has only been announced for Xbox Live Arcade. If something does materialize down the road, you’ll definitely hear about it.”
Now before you get upset, let us tell you that it was to be expected. A potential PC announcement of its sequel would hurt its sales and that’s something that both Remedy and Sandbox Strategies want to avoid at all costs.
Our guess is that American Nightmare will remain for a couple of months as an XBLA exclusive title and if Alan Wake PC’s sales are good, it will be ported. In other words, if the PC version is a success – commercially – then its sequel will follow. We just hope that it won’t take Remedy another year to release it, because now there is no ‘Microsoft is to blame for the game’s exclusivity’ excuse.
So for the time being, let’s wait and see!
