Remember Creative Assembly’s HYENAS? You know, the multiplayer sci-fi FPS that looked like nothing you’d expect from a Creative Assembly game? Well, SEGA has just announced its cancelation.
As SEGA stated in a press release.
“In response to the lower profitability of the European region, we have reviewed the title portfolio of each development base in Europe and the resulting action will be to cancel “HYENAS” and some unannounced titles under development.”
In HYENAS, players were meant to team up with their pack to steal priceless pop culture loot from the Mars billionaires and rival crews. Creative Assembly claimed that this wouldn’t be a Battle Royale game. However, it appeared that CA and SEGA were after the “hero shooter” crowd.
To be honest, I’m glad that SEGA has canceled this game. Similar to Arkane’s Redfall, this isn’t what most of Creative Assembly’s fans want from the team. Just give us a sequel to Alien: Isolation or a new horror FPS game. And, if the team is unable to recapture that thunder, then at least focus on what you know best; developing new strategy games.
Lastly, SEGA will release Creative Assembly’s Total War: PHARAOH in October 2023.
Stay tuned for more!
