Although we don’t usually share console news, we are really happy that Croteam decided to port Serious Sam 3 to consoles. After all, we love this game and today we can offer you some new information about those upcoming versions. According to Croteam themselves, the X360 version of Serious Sam 3 is planned for release in the next 4 months. After the release of the X360 version, the team will focus on the PS3 one.
The X360 has been in development since the release of the PC version and the team is currently trying to optimize their game for Microsoft’s platform. According to Croteam, the game ‘does require time to do all kinds of optimizations, first to fit all in memory and to get decent framarate, as 360 is rather old hardware now (512MB RAM, lower range graphics card etc)‘.
The developer concluded that they are planning to release the X360 version in the next 4 months, if everything goes well. On the other hand, PS3 will have to wait even more as Croteam has not started working on that version yet. Croteam will see what can be done with PS3, as it has 256MB+256MB memory specs, something that needs even more programming and optimization work to get it right.

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
