Remember the Shenmue HD Project? You know, the Unreal Engine project that was meant to be released for free and was being developed by NoconKid? Well, Yu Suzuki saw a great opportunity here and instead of sending a C&D letter to NoconKid, he decided to think outside the box and hire him for Shenmue 3.

And this is definitely great news for all those experimenting with various engines by re-creating older games.
A lot of our fans asked why we were – and still are – sharing re-creations of older games in current game engines. Well, here is your answer everyone. Not only NoconKid got the opportunity to work on an official Shenmue title, but the very same thing happened with the team that was re-creating Resident Evil 2 in Unreal Engine 4.
We’ve shared a lot of such recreations, so we are more than happy when these guys are offered this rare opportunity of working on official titles.
