Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is considered by many the best Splinter Cell game ever released. And YouTube’s ‘Mark B’ has just released a first-person mod for it. According to Mark, this mod changes the “over-the-shoulder” aiming view to make the game partially playable in first person by editing the necessary values found in the SplinterCell3Settings.ini.
As Mark noted:
“To get working, my understanding is you must create a new profile after making the changes to the ini. In other words, I don’t think this will work on existing saves and if you want to to make changes somewhere down the road, you’ll need to start a new game. This isn’t entirely clear to me, there may be a way to make it work somehow. But essentially my advice is make sure you have things set up and working how you want them from the very beginning before embarking on a playthrough.”
In order to install this mod, you” have to simply replace your SplinterCell3Settings.ini with this one.
Mark has also provided a guide via which you can fix the different mouse sensitivity for the X & Y axis (that the game has by default).
- Go to the same ini file
- Search for [Echelon.EPlayerCam]
- Find this value: m_pitchSpeed=25000.0
- Change it to 40000.0 to match m_yawSpeed or whatever you prefer
Have fun!
