Bandai Namco has just announced that Tekken 8 has sold over two million units. Tekken 8 came out on January 26th, meaning that it took a bit more than two weeks in order to hit this milestone.
This information comes straight from Bandai Namco’s latest earning calls. According to Bandai Namco, the game sells better than they had hoped for at this point.
Now while we don’t have any platform-specific sales, we can at least take a look at SteamSpy and get an estimate of the PC sales. From what we can see, the PC version has sold at least 500K units.
I’ve been playing Tekken 8 since it came out and I’m thoroughly enjoying it. And yes, this is easily one of the best Tekken games. Its story mode is also way better than even the CG Tekken movies that Bandai Namco released. In that mode, the game displays some of the best graphics I’ve seen. Those real-time cut-scenes are gorgeous. The lighting is also way better in the cut-scenes than when fighting.
However, there are some balance issues and bugs that Bandai Namco needs to address. And I’ve also noticed some major issues with my main, Hwoarang.
Right now, some characters can miraculously recover from Hwoarang’s hits. Here is an example.
@Harada_TEKKEN you really need to fix this. Why was Jin able to block here? Since he attacks, he should have received the full combo. We've even paused it and you can clearly see the HK was pressed WAY BEFORE he was able to recover. He shouldn't be able to block. pic.twitter.com/zHB0etXyic

Since Jin attacked, he should have been hit by the full combo. That’s what’s been happening in the past, and that’s what happens with other characters in Tekken 8. Instead, Jin was able to miraculously recover from it. I’ve also seen this happening, again, to Jin, King and Kazuya while side-stepping. Here is the issue though. Other characters, like Reina, will get hit by the full combo under the exact same circumstances. So Bandai Namco should either allow you to punish all characters with this move or none of them. And I’m OK if the devs decide to nerf this move. However, I want consistency. You should either be able to punish your enemy or not. Plain and simple.
Stay tuned for more!
