Bandai Namco has just launched Tekken 8 on PC and consoles, and unfortunately, the game suffers from major crashing issues. Right now, the game’s Online Ranked Mode is completely unplayable due to numerous Fatal Error crashes on both consoles and PC.
Bandai Namco held two online beta phases for Tekken 8, so you’d expect the team to have nailed its online network functionality. However, the game’s online mode is right now a mess.
We’ve been constantly getting errors and crashes in Ranked Matches. Things got so bad that we were receiving them after three or four matches. Seriously, the online experience is awful right now, so you should all stay away from it.
And I get it. Tekken 8 has been out for just two hours. So, hopefully, Bandai Namco will be able to resolve these issues tomorrow. Still, it’s inexcusable for a fighting game to be completely unplayable in online mode. And again, there were two online beta phases for it. So, if you’ve purchased the game, you should right now stick with its Story Mode.
From what we’ve seen, the crashing issues only occur in Online Mode. Offline Mode seems to be stable. Or at least we haven’t experienced any crashes yet.
The good news is that the game runs as good as its demo. So, make sure to give it a go in order to find out whether your PC is capable of running it.
Our PC Performance Analysis for Tekken 8 will go live this weekend. Naturally, we’ll be focusing on its Story Mode which appears to be more taxing than its Online Mode.
For those wondering, TekkenOverlay is not yet compatible with the final version of Tekken 8. So no, you can’t use it in order to unlock the game’s framerate.
Finally, I’ll be sure to update this story once Bandai Namco has addressed these crashing issues. So, stay tuned for more!
UPDATE:
Bandai Namco has successfully fixed the Fatal Error crashes. As such, you can now play Online Ranked without crashing. I was able to play Online Ranked for more than an hour without any issues. I played against both console and PC players since I have cross-play turned on.
