KRAFTON is currently giving away for free The Callisto Protocol on Epic Games Store for a limited time. From August 22nd to August 29th, PC gamers will be able to visit the game’s EGS page and acquire their free copy.
The Callisto Protocol is a third-person action-adventure game with survival horror elements. In this game, you’ll face scary, fast-changing creatures using both guns and close-up combat. You can also find and collect items to unlock new weapons and gear to help you escape the dangers on Jupiter’s Dead Moon.
The Callisto Protocol was made using Unreal Engine 4 and was one of the best-looking games of 2022. It still looks great today. However, when it first came out, there were some annoying shader compilation stutters. The devs fixed them, but there are still some problems with how the game runs, especially with its Ray Tracing. Still, as we’ve discovered, the game performs better in its latest version. Plus, there are fewer traversal stutters.
Now while The Callisto Protocol was not as good as Dead Space, I really enjoyed it. To be honest, I don’t think this is a bad game. It simply could not come close to the original Dead Space. Not only that but it came out alongside the Dead Space Remake, meaning that it had a big competition.
To its credit, Striking Distance Studios supported the game with some cool free updates. In January 2023, we got a New Game+ Mode. Then, in February 2023, the devs added a Hardcore Mode. And finally, in April 2023, the game received a Dismemberment Mode.
It’s also worth noting that KRAFTON removed the Denuvo anti-tamper tech in March 2024. So, that’s another cool thing to keep in mind.
